Revelation Chapter 7
Showing all 17 verses for Revelation Chapter 7.
The People's Bible is written by people, for the people. Each verse below shows:
"And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. "
"John sees four angels stationed at the four 'corners' of the earth (an ancient way of saying 'everywhere'), holding back four winds so that nothing - land, sea, or trees - is touched."
I don't rush to bring hardship - I hold things back, I give time, I look for reasons to show mercy first. Trust that whatever season you're in, there's more patience at work behind it than you realise.
"And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, "
"Another angel rises from the east carrying the seal of the living God and calls out loudly to the four angels who have power to harm the earth and sea."
Before hardship comes, I'm already working to protect what matters to you - even when you can't see the arrangements being made on your behalf.
"Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. "
"The angel says, "Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees until we have sealed God's servants with a mark on their foreheads.""
Before anything else about you, I know you and I claim you as mine - that identity is the one thing that can't be taken from you, whatever storms come.
"And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. "
"John hears the total: 144,000 sealed from all the tribes of Israel."
You are not a statistic lost in the crowd to me - every single person matters enough to be individually known and accounted for, whatever your background.
"Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand. "
"Twelve thousand are sealed from each of the tribes of Judah, Reuben, and Gad."
I don't deal with you as part of a faceless crowd - I know your name and your particular story, just as each tribe here is named.
"Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nephthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand. "
"Twelve thousand are sealed from each of the tribes of Asher, Naphtali, and Manasseh."
Every family line and every generation has its place in this story - nothing about your heritage is too obscure to matter.
"Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. "
"Twelve thousand are sealed from each of the tribes of Simeon, Levi, and Issachar."
Whatever role or status you've had until now, there's a full place for you in what's coming - nothing disqualifies you from being fully counted.
"Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand. "
"Twelve thousand are sealed from each of the tribes of Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjamin."
What matters in the end isn't your family name or background alone, but the direction your life has actually taken - I care about faithfulness, not just origin.
"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; "
"Then John sees something no one could count: a vast crowd from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before God's throne and the Lamb, dressed in white and holding palm branches."
This isn't a private club. Wherever you're from, whatever your background, there's a place for you here - I never turn away anyone who genuinely wants to come.
"And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. "
"They cry out loudly, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.""
True freedom isn't something you can manufacture alone through willpower - it's something received. Let yourself be genuinely grateful rather than always needing to take the credit.
"And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, "
"All the angels, the elders and the four living creatures around the throne fall face-down and worship God."
Real joy is meant to be shared, not kept private - let your gratitude draw others in rather than staying something you keep to yourself.
"Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. "
"They say, "Amen! Praise, glory, wisdom, thanks, honour, power and strength belong to our God forever and ever. Amen.""
Gratitude isn't a duty to perform - it's what naturally rises up in you once you truly see how much you've been given. Let real thankfulness shape how you live, not just how you speak.
"And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? "
"One of the elders asks John, "Who are these people dressed in white robes, and where have they come from?""
It's alright not to know or understand everything straight away - asking honest questions is how understanding grows, and I welcome your questions.
"And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. "
"John admits he doesn't know, and the elder explains: these are people who have come through great suffering, and have washed their robes white in the blood of the Lamb."
Whatever you've been through, however messy or painful your story is, it doesn't disqualify you - I offer a clean start that isn't about what you've achieved, but about what's freely given.
"Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. "
"Because of this, they stand before God's throne, serving him continually in his temple, and God himself lives among them."
I'm not distant or hard to reach - closeness with me isn't reserved for some future far-off reward, it's available to you right now, in how you live each day.
"They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. "
"They will never be hungry or thirsty again, and the sun's heat will never strike them."
I see your basic needs and struggles, not just your spiritual ones - what I offer isn't abstract theology, it's real, tangible relief and care.
"For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. "
"The Lamb, standing at the centre of the throne, will shepherd them and lead them to springs of living water, and God will personally wipe every tear from their eyes."
I see every tear you've ever cried, and none of it is wasted or unnoticed. What I offer isn't a reward for perfection - it's genuine comfort and care, freely given to anyone who comes.
