Revelation Chapter 22
Showing all 21 verses for Revelation Chapter 22.
The People's Bible is written by people, for the people. Each verse below shows:
"And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. "
"John sees a crystal-clear river flowing straight from the throne of God and the Lamb (Jesus) - a picture of life itself, pure and endless, flowing directly from the source of all being."
I want you to know that what sustains you doesn't run dry and isn't rationed - come close and drink deeply of life itself, don't settle for stagnant water when a clear river is right in front of you.
"In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. "
"In the middle of the city's main street, on both sides of the river, stands the tree of life - it produces twelve different kinds of fruit, a fresh crop every month, and its leaves heal the nations."
I am offering you continuous nourishment, not a one-off fix - come back to the source again and again, and know that the healing I offer isn't just for you privately, it reaches out to mend relationships and whole communities.
"And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: "
"There will be no more curse - the throne of God and the Lamb will be right there in the city, and his people will serve him, not as forced labour, but as devoted work that has meaning."
I want you to understand that the weight you carry - the sense that everything is a struggle, that life is fundamentally against you - is not the final word; keep going, because what's coming undoes exactly that burden.
"And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. "
"God's people will see his face directly, and his name will be written on their foreheads - meaning they belong to him openly and completely, with nothing hidden or held back."
I don't want you hiding from me or feeling you have to earn the right to be close - the goal was always face-to-face relationship, not distance, and your identity is something I give you openly, not something you have to fight for.
"And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. "
"There will be no night, and no need for lamps or sunlight, because God himself provides the light - and his people will reign with him forever."
I'm telling you that your life was made for more than just getting through the days - there's a role, a purpose, a "reigning," meant for you that outlasts anything temporary you're chasing now.
"And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. "
"The angel tells John these words are completely trustworthy and true - God, who inspired the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants what must happen soon."
I want you to take this seriously, not as a spooky story but as something real and relevant to your actual life - pay attention, because it's not meant to be background noise.
"Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. "
"Jesus says "Look, I'm coming soon" - and pronounces a blessing on anyone who takes to heart and lives out what this book says."
I'm not asking you to just admire these words - live them, because how you respond now is what actually matters, and I'm not far off watching from a distance.
"And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. "
"John states he personally saw and heard all these things, and was so overwhelmed that he fell down to worship the angel who had shown them to him."
I understand being awestruck, but don't let your admiration for anyone or anything - however impressive - replace the place that belongs only to God; keep your worship rightly aimed.
"Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. "
"The angel stops him immediately: "Don't do that - I'm just a fellow servant, like you, like the prophets, like anyone who keeps this book's words. Worship God.""
I want you to see clearly who deserves your ultimate devotion - not fame, not power, not even spiritual experiences themselves, but only the source behind them; stay grounded in that.
"And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. "
"The angel tells John: "Don't seal up or hide away this prophecy - the time for it is near.""
Don't file these words away as irrelevant to you right now - they're for today, for your actual choices, not a puzzle to be solved later by someone else.
"He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. "
"The angel says: let the unjust go on being unjust, the corrupt stay corrupt, but let the righteous keep doing right, and the holy keep growing in holiness."
I'm telling you plainly - who you're becoming, day by day, in ordinary choices, is who you'll be found to be; don't assume there's unlimited time to turn things around later, start shaping your character now, in love and honesty.
"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. "
"Jesus says again: "Look, I'm coming soon, and I'm bringing rewards with me, to give to everyone based on what they've actually done.""
I care about what you actually do with your days, not just what you say you believe - live with integrity because your actions genuinely matter and are seen.
"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. "
"Jesus declares: "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last" - using the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet to say he encompasses all of time and existence."
I want you to know that nothing that happens to you falls outside my reach - not your beginning, not your end, not anything in between - so you can face even your hardest days without fear of being abandoned to chance.
"Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. "
"Blessed are those who keep his commandments - they'll have the right to eat from the tree of life and to enter the city through its gates."
How you live matters - not as a test to pass, but because a life of love and integrity is genuinely the kind of life that leads somewhere real and lasting; keep walking that road.
"For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. "
"Outside the city are those who chose deception and harm as a way of life - here symbolically called "dogs" (an ancient insult for the morally unclean), along with sorcerers, the sexually exploitative, murderers, idol-worshippers and anyone devoted to lies."
I'm not interested in condemning people for labels - I'm asking whether your life is built on truth and care for others, or on manipulation and harm; that's the real dividing line, and it's always your choice which way you build.
"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. "
"Jesus identifies himself directly: "I sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the root and descendant of David, and the bright morning star.""
I am both where your story started and where it's heading - trust that the darkness you might be walking through right now isn't permanent, morning is genuinely coming.
"And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. "
"The Spirit and the bride (God's people) both say "Come." Anyone who hears this should also say "Come." Anyone who's thirsty should come. And anyone who wants to, can take the water of life freely, at no cost."
I'm not standing at a distance waiting for you to prove yourself first - if you're thirsty, if any part of you wants this, that's enough to come; the invitation is open right now, freely, no cost, no conditions.
"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: "
"Jesus warns everyone who hears this prophecy: if anyone adds anything to it, God will add to them the plagues described in this book."
Be honest with the truth you've been given - don't twist it to control or manipulate others, because integrity with the truth is part of what it means to actually live it.
"And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. "
"And if anyone takes anything away from this prophecy's words, God will take away their share in the tree of life and the holy city, everything just described in this vision."
Don't water down hard truths just to make them more comfortable - real love tells the whole truth, gently but completely, because leaving parts out can cost people something real.
"He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. "
"The one who has testified to all this says: "Yes, I'm coming soon." John responds: "Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.""
I want you to actually long for what's coming, not dread it - if your heart is right, my return isn't something to fear but something to hope for, the way you'd long for a loved one coming home.
"The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. "
"The final line of the whole Bible: "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.""
I want the last thing you take from this whole story to be grace - not that you have to earn your way to any of this, but that it's offered to you freely, right where you are, right now.
