Zechariah Chapter 6
Showing all 15 verses for Zechariah Chapter 6.
The People's Bible is written by people, for the people. Each verse below shows:
"And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass. "
"Zechariah looks up again and sees four chariots coming out from between two bronze mountains."
I have resources and forces at work in the world that you don't always see coming out from behind the scenes. Trust that things are moving even when you can't yet see the full picture.
"In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses; "
"The first chariot has red horses, the second has black horses."
I work through many different means and moments in your life, not just one single way. Don't expect every answer to look the same - stay open to different forms of the help that's coming.
"And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses. "
"The third chariot has white horses, and the fourth has dappled-grey and reddish-brown horses."
I don't leave things half-finished - when I set something in motion, it's meant to reach completion. Trust that what's begun in your life is heading somewhere whole, not left dangling.
"Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord? "
"Zechariah asks the interpreting angel what these chariots mean."
There's no shame in asking 'what does this mean?' instead of guessing. I'd rather you come and ask honestly than walk away confused and make up an answer that isn't true.
"And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the LORD of all the earth. "
"The angel explains that these are four spirits of heaven, sent out from standing in the presence of the Lord who rules the whole earth."
Even what looks like chaos in world events is not outside my reach or my care. When your own circumstances feel out of control, remember that nothing is ultimately unsupervised.
"The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country. "
"The black horses head out to the north, the white ones follow after them, and the dappled-grey ones go towards the south."
I go directly to the source of what has hurt you, not just to the surface symptoms. Trust that the deepest issues in your life are the ones I'm most concerned with resolving.
"And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth. "
"The strong reddish-brown horses go out eager to patrol back and forth across the whole earth, and they're told to go, so they do."
I'm not distant or absent from the details of the world - my attention actively moves through it, watching over what happens. You are not unwatched or forgotten in the wider sweep of things.
"Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country. "
"The angel calls out to Zechariah, saying that the ones who went to the north have set God's spirit at rest concerning that region."
When you've done what's right and let a matter be properly resolved, you can let your own spirit rest about it too. I don't want you carrying unresolved anger or dread over old wounds forever.
"And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, "
"The Lord speaks a message to Zechariah."
I speak into your life not only through dramatic visions but through plain, direct instruction for what to do next. Be ready to act, not just to observe.
"Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah; "
"God tells Zechariah to take a gift from three named returned exiles - Heldai, Tobijah and Jedaiah - and go that same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah."
I work through real people and real, practical gifts, not just abstract ideas. Your ordinary generosity today can become part of something with lasting significance, even if you can't yet see how.
"Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest; "
"Zechariah is told to take the silver and gold, make crowns, and place them on the head of Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest."
I bring together things that seem like they shouldn't mix - authority and service, leadership and humility. Don't assume the roles you carry in life have to stay in separate boxes; you can lead and serve at the same time.
"And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: "
"Zechariah is told to say to Joshua: this is a message about 'the Branch' - a coming man who will spring up from his own place and build the Lord's temple."
Real growth in your life often comes quietly, like a branch growing from a root, rather than by force. Trust the slow, organic unfolding of good things rather than trying to manufacture them all at once.
"Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. "
"This same figure will build the Lord's temple, carry royal splendour, sit and rule on his throne, and also be a priest on that throne - king and priest together, in perfect harmony between the two roles."
I hold together what your life sometimes keeps apart - authority used not for control but to bring you close to what's good. What I offer is not power over you but peace with you.
"And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD. "
"The crowns are to be kept in the Lord's temple as a lasting reminder, associated with Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and Hen son of Zephaniah."
Some acts of generosity and faith are worth making visible and lasting, not just done and forgotten. What you build with sincerity can go on speaking long after the moment has passed.
"And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God. "
"People from distant places will come and help build the Lord's temple, and this will prove that God really sent Zechariah - but it depends on the people faithfully obeying the Lord their God."
What I promise is real, but it unfolds alongside your genuine choice to listen and follow. Don't wait passively for good things to arrive - your faithful response is part of how they come.
