Revelation Chapter 19
Showing all 21 verses for Revelation Chapter 19.
The People's Bible is written by people, for the people. Each verse below shows:
"And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: "
"After Babylon's fall, John hears a massive crowd in heaven shouting 'Hallelujah' - praising God for salvation, glory, honour, and power."
When something wrong in the world finally gets set right, let yourself feel genuine relief and gratitude rather than staying cynical. Joy at real justice being done is a healthy, honest response, not naivety.
"For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. "
"The praise continues: God's judgements are true and fair, because he has judged the corrupt system ('the great whore') that polluted the world, and avenged everyone she killed."
If you're waiting for justice that hasn't come yet, that waiting isn't wasted or forgotten - I see it, even when the timeline isn't yours to control. Keep faith with what's right in the meantime, rather than despairing or taking justice into your own hands.
"And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. "
"They cry 'Hallelujah' again, and the smoke from Babylon's destruction rises forever."
Some patterns of harm have to be ended completely, not just paused or managed - full closure, not partial fixes. Consider where in your own life something similar needs a clean, final break rather than a temporary truce.
"And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. "
"The twenty-four elders and four living creatures (first introduced back in chapter 4's throne-room vision) fall down and worship God, saying 'Amen, Hallelujah.'"
Whatever happens in your circumstances, there's a bigger picture of goodness and order continuing steadily underneath it - let that anchor you when things on the ground feel chaotic. You're part of something far larger and more stable than today's troubles.
"And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. "
"A voice from the throne itself calls everyone - regardless of status, 'both small and great' - to praise God."
Your worth isn't measured by status, wealth, or how impressive your life looks from outside - you matter equally to me either way. Come as you are; there's no minimum requirement to belong here.
"And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. "
"John hears an enormous crowd, sounding like crashing ocean waves and rolling thunder, declaring 'Hallelujah - because the Lord God, all-powerful, reigns.'"
When your world feels out of control, remember this isn't the final word on how things really stand - there's a governing goodness underneath all of it that doesn't get shaken. Let that steady you rather than needing to control everything yourself.
"Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. "
"A call to celebrate: the wedding of the Lamb (Jesus) has arrived, and his bride has prepared herself."
You were made for real connection, not isolation - and I'm offering you the deepest kind: to belong completely, to be fully known and fully wanted. That invitation is open to you regardless of what your life has looked like so far.
"And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. "
"The bride is given fine, clean white linen to wear - and the text explains directly what it means: the linen represents the righteous, faithful lives of God's people."
You don't have to earn your way into being loved and accepted - that's freely given. What matters is letting that gift genuinely reshape how you live, not performing goodness to try to deserve something you already have.
"And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. "
"John is told to write down: blessed are those invited to the Lamb's wedding feast - and he's assured these are God's own true words."
This invitation includes you - not as a spectator to someone else's story, but as someone genuinely wanted at the table. You don't need to feel you've earned a seat; you just need to accept that you're invited.
"And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. "
"John falls down to worship the angel speaking to him, but the angel stops him - 'don't do that, I'm just a fellow servant like you; worship God instead. What Jesus revealed is what all true prophecy is really about.'"
Be careful not to put people - however wise, impressive or spiritually gifted - on a pedestal that belongs somewhere higher. I want your genuine trust directed at what's actually trustworthy, not at any messenger, including me.
"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. "
"John sees heaven open up, and a white horse appears - its rider is named 'Faithful and True,' and he judges and fights with complete righteousness."
I am not distant or uninvolved in how your story, or the world's story, actually ends - I am faithful to what I've promised, all the way through. Trust doesn't mean pretending nothing's wrong; it means believing the outcome is finally, fully, in good hands.
"His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. "
"His eyes blaze like fire, he wears many crowns, and he has a name written that only he himself knows."
You will never be able to fully define or box in who I am - and that's not meant to distance you, it's meant to invite ongoing discovery rather than a settled, finished picture. Stay curious rather than assuming you've already got the whole truth figured out.
"And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. "
"His robe is soaked in blood, and his name is 'The Word of God.'"
What I said and what I did were never separate things - I lived out fully what I taught, including the cost of it. Let your own words and actions match that closely; that consistency is what real integrity looks like.
"And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. "
"Heaven's armies follow him, riding white horses and dressed in clean white linen."
You're not meant to be a passive bystander in this story - you're invited to actively participate in what's good and true, not just watch it happen from a distance. Your faithfulness has a real, active role to play.
"And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. "
"A sharp sword comes out of his mouth to strike the nations; he'll rule them with unbreakable authority ('a rod of iron'), and he treads out God's fierce judgement like grapes crushed in a winepress."
Words carry real power - to build up or to cut down, to reveal truth or bury it - so use yours carefully and honestly. The sharpest thing I ever wield is truth itself, not force.
"And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. "
"Written on his robe and thigh is his ultimate title: 'KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.'"
Whatever authorities and pressures dominate your life and your world day to day - I want you to know none of them are actually the final word. That truth is meant to give you real freedom from fear, not more reason for it.
"And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; "
"John sees an angel standing in the sun, shouting to every bird flying in the sky: come, gather for the great feast of God."
Life keeps offering you a real choice between these two tables - one of connection and life, one of self-destruction through opposing what's good. I'm laying that choice out honestly because it matters, not to frighten you but because you deserve to see it clearly.
"That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. "
"The birds are called to eat the flesh of kings, generals, soldiers, horses and riders - everyone, regardless of rank, who's opposed what's right."
Don't put your trust in status, rank, or power to protect you when it matters most - none of it holds up against what's actually real and lasting. What protects you is your character and your choices, not your position.
"And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. "
"John sees the beast, earth's kings, and their armies assembled to fight against the rider on the white horse and his forces."
Opposing what's true and good might look, for a while, like a real fight with real stakes - but I want you to know how it actually ends. Don't be discouraged by how powerful wrongdoing can look in the moment; that power is not the last word.
"And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. "
"The beast is captured, along with the false prophet who used fake miracles to deceive people into taking the beast's mark and worshipping his image - both are thrown alive into a lake of burning fire and sulphur."
This is the honest part of the story I don't soften - real consequences exist for choosing deception and cruelty over truth and love, and I want you to see that clearly rather than vaguely. But I'm telling you this so you can choose differently while you still have the choice, not to frighten you into paralysis.
"And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. "
"Everyone else is defeated by the sword coming from the rider's mouth, and the birds gather to feast on what's left - fulfilling the summons from verse 17."
I want to be honest with you about where opposing love, truth and humility ultimately leads - not to scare you, but because you deserve the full picture before you choose your own path. And the door to choosing differently, even now, always stays open to you.
